Regular Event Tournament Rules 2023-24

Point System: Points will be awarded based on finishing position in the division.  Points will be used for an invitational tournament to be held at the end of the season. The Year-End event will have an increased prize fund from escrow collected at each individual event throughout the season.

Participants will earn points based on how many opponents they beat in each event.  For example, if there are 15 entrants in that division, first place in that division will receive 15 points.  Second place, 14 points, and so on.  At the end of each half of the season, all points will be added up and the following will have an automatic entry into the Year-End Event (The format will be announced later).

Format: The tournament will consist of one squad with an optional Side Event afterwards.  The tournament will begin at 10 a.m. with the side event beginning just after.  A regular KYPS event will consist of 5 games bowled across 10 lanes.  Total pinfall at the end of the 5 games will determine the winner. Bowlers will move one pair to the right after each game.  Lane assignments will be drawn or assigned at the time of check-in. The Side Event is an optional event separate from the main tournament. The format for the Side Event will be announced during check-in.

Equipment: To simulate Junior Gold competition, bowlers will be limited to a maximum of 3 bowling balls, including polyester, in any one competition. The practice session has no limit on the number of bowling balls, but once competition begins, only 3 may be thrown from that point onward. Once three different bowling balls have been thrown in that competition, no additional ball may be thrown by that competitor. A 4th bowling ball will be allowed for special formats such as dual pattern events. Surface changes are allowed up until the first ball of competition. Once the first ball of competition is thrown by that bowler, surface changes are no longer allowed. During practice, surface changes are only allowed to be done by hand.
